We investigate the theories of dissipative relativistic fluids in which all of the dynamical equations can be written as total-divergence equations. Extending the analysis of Liu, M\"uller, and Ruggeri, we find the general theory of this type. We discuss various features of these theories, including the causality of the full nonlinear evolution equations and the nature and stability of the equilibrium states.
