Data were collected from a stratified random sample of boat owners in eight contiguous counties in central Iowa to examine the extent to which recreational displacement from Red Rock Reservoir in central Iowa has occurred. Data are reported on the bivariate relationship between displacement behavior and the boat owner's overall satisfaction with their most recent boating experience. Results provide evidence of recreational displacement and support the use of displacement as an explanation for the lack of bivariate relationships between setting attributes and satisfaction. Boaters who were displaced from the reservoir were less satisfied with their most recent boating experience at the reservoir than those who were not displaced.
