Hargis, G. K., Sidwell, C. G., Jackson, B. L., and Williams, G. A.: An ultramicromethod for serum calcium determination. Techn. Bull. Reg. Med. Techn. 39: 239–241, 1969. An ultramicro modification of the rapid, simple semiautomated EDTA titration method of Copp is described. The results obtained with the modification were not significantly different from those of the original method for any of the serum calcium concentrations compared. This modification therefore allows use of serum samples with one-fifth to one-tenth the volume needed for the original method, without loss of the precision, speed, or simplicity of the original method of Copp. This modification is especially useful in permitting serial serum calcium determinations in small experimental animals.
