Demographics of a counseling center are presented. The grades and retention rates of students who received counseling were compared to students in the general student population. Information was obtained on the effects of various counseling services and mental health problems on grades and retention. Results indicated that study skills training improved grades, but counseling and career counseling did not. Results also indicated that counseling has an effect on retention, having a differential effect on different groups.
