The largest siloxane rings and chains yet separated are reported. A gas chromatographic method has been developed for determining the amounts of linear and cyclic methylsiloxanes in an equilibrated mixture up to a molecular weight of 2530 and the amounts of cyclics in a mixture of only cyclic siloxanes up to a molecular weights of 2960. A computer calculation of weight percents and statistical analysis of molecular weight distribution is described.
