Full process demonstration at Queen City continues to be delayed due to problems in feedstock availability and sulfur plugging. But resolution of these problems is expected in the months to come. At this point, the SSRP continues to present the potential of significant advantages in operability which are of interest to the gas processing industry. The process is inherently stable and ''self-regulating.'' This feature has been proven repeatedly by quickly changing acid gas flows through the ''coupling-decoupling'' of the amine plant. The process turndown capability is excellent; the plant has routinely operated at 15-50% of design capacity without any problems. The abatement potential of the process appears very good. Even though as extended ''performance test'' type of operation has not yet been possible due to lack of continuity of feedstock, the scrubber has repeatedly demonstrated the capability to reduce emissions well below the 200 ppmv SO/sub 2/ target level.
