Objective:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bidirectional association between Low Back Pain and TMD among Korean adults over the age of 50. Methods:The data used for analysis were obtained from the 2013 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.Subjects were 2,681 adults aged over 50 years old.Data were analyzed by chi-square and t-test.Multiple regression analysis was also performed to assess the bidirectional association between Low Back Pain and TMD.Statistical significance level was set at p<0.05.Results: Using multiple logistic regression analysis after adjustment of age, gender, BMI, incomes, smoking, drink, mastication problem, physical activity status we found significant relationship between the prevalence of TMD and Low Back Pain (OR: 1.257, 95% CI: 1.107-1.615).Also, after adjustment for confounders, the prevalence of Low Back Pain and TMD (OR: 3.628, 95% CI: 1.506-3.858)was increased significantly. Conclusion:Low Back Pain are bidirectional associated with the TMD.Further large cohort studies are needed the relationship between Low Back Pain and TMD.
