Summary The simplified method of curve-fitting described by Condon, Birge, and Shea with reference to the method of least squares is applied to the method of zero sum. The relative advantages of the two methods are unchanged by the simplification of both of them. Tables are given, applicable to zero sum, similar to those given by Birge and Shea for least squares.
