Lung transplantation is the only effective treatment method for end-stage lung disease. This review focuses on enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) for lung transplantation, which includes three stages: pre-operation, during operation, and post-operation. The importance of multidisciplinary team work for ERAS of lung transplantation is also highlighted. Effective recovery after surgery is crucial to improve the survival rate of patients who undergo lung transplantation. However, ERAS of lung transplantation is a systematic and complex project that lacks sufficient literature support. Some researchers suggest that ERAS of lung transplantation can refer to the ERAS of common thoracic surgery. Therefore, we must pay attention to the three stages of ERAS for lung transplantation (pre-operation, during operation, and post-operation), as well as other details such as venous thrombus embolism, nutrition, and mental health. Multidisciplinary team work is also crucial for ERAS of lung transplantation, as patients could recover faster after lung transplantation with better collaboration among the team. Moreover, formulating personalized rehabilitation plans and tracking progress through multidisciplinary personnel would often yield twice the results with half the effort. Recent evidence and experience from multicenter lung transplantation studies show that ERAS is crucial for improving the survival rate of patients undergoing lung transplantation. We can refer to the ERAS of common thoracic surgery, while also emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and individualized rehabilitation plans.
