A new method is presented, using the theory of resultants, to obtain various block-bilinear finite series solutions to$AX - XB = - C$, in the case where the field is arbitrary and the solution is assumed to be unique. It is shown on the basis of matrix polynomial inversion that this form of the solution is equivalent to a matrix inversion.
