It is theoretically shown how to coherently couple microwave photons to phonons via the mechanism of stimulated Brillouin scattering in an integrated acousto-optic resonator. Achieving efficient coupling is an important step towards long distance quantum communication based on circuit quantum electrodynamics architectures.
