Nanosized Aucore/Ptshell bimetallic particles are formed on the surface of TiO2 in a highly dispersed state in a two-step method utilizing its photocatalytic activity. The adsorptivity of sulfur-containing compounds on the metal clusters can be finely controlled over a wide range by changing the Au/Pt atomic ratio. The picture shows a high-resolution transmission electron micrograph of a single nanoparticle.
