Germination responses of some fungal spores to 50-Hz-powerline-treated water were studied. Water samples were exposed to 24.8 (RMS) and 35.0 (peak) μT and 36.2 (RMS) and 51.2 (peak) μT powerline magnetic fields for 32 h and sampled at regular intervals of 4 h. Five hours after exposure, germination responses of different fungal spores were observed in treated water. The study revealed that exposure time- and magnetic field strength-dependent different water differentially inhibited the spore germinations of various fungi. The study further presents the evidence for stable changes produced in water structures by powerline exposure.
