This special issues asks scholars, wayfinders and intellectual shamans to ponder the question; ‘how will we build a future where all can thrive”. In this Turning Point, in honouring the holistic plurality of time, I stand in the present while simultaneously viewing the past and future. In honouring the present, I acknowledge all the innovative achievements that have led to billions worldwide leading healthy and fulfilled lives. I honour the past by eliciting insight from ancient traditions developed by wisdom holders and healers that understood the power of the natural world and the need for us to acknowledge our own humble role in it. I honour the future by reasserting our role as caretakers and guardians of ecosystems we rely on as a human family for survival. In societies that wish to build futures where all can thrive, I put forward for consideration the idea that we could seek inspiration from heuristic narratives of ancient traditions to illuminate pathways to sustainable futures. This is one way we may honour the past, present and future.
