EPA Method 101A is used for the determination of particulate and gaseous mercury emissions from sewage sludge incinerators and other specified source. In this method, emissions are withdrawn isokinetically from the source and collected in acidic potassium permanganate solution. The mercury (Hg) collected in the mercuric form is reduced to elemental mercury and aerated from the solution into an optical cell and measured by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrophotometry (CVAAS)
