Social resilience is an elusive characteristic at the individual, communal and national levels. Understanding resilience patterns is key to designing response measures, at various levels. Here, we focus on social resilience at the communal and national levels with a research methodology presenting an alternative to the commonly used questionnaires and surveys. We apply text analytic methods to study discourse of inhabitants from the North of Israel on a WhatsApp group. This group was evacuated from their home after the Hamas 7th October attack. We compare the discourse of two separate months in order to identify trends and characteristics of their social resilience. The method we apply is evidence driven and we provide a social analysis and a methodological advance that can be used in other contexts. Our findings can be generalised to other areas suffering from conflicts.
