Morphological changes in the adult neurocranium were studied on lateral head films of 32 Finnish women aged 20–73 years, the interval between the first and last observation being 15 years. The measurements were computed from x‐ and y‐coordinates of 21 neurocranial reference points obtained directly on the films with a D‐Mac Pencilfollower. The findings revealed no significant changes in measurements of the cranial vaults and the cranial base over the observation period. The constancy of the neurocranial dimensions with mean changes ranging from −0.14 mm to 0.20 mm indicated that no appreciable changes in external or internal size of the calvarium had occurred with increasing adult age. Nor was there any marked evidence of increases or decreases in skull thickness.
