This study investigates the critical failure points and economic implications of cold chain logistics deficiencies in Nigeria's perishable agricultural sector. The research was prompted by the persistently high postharvest losses estimated at 40-60% that undermine food security, reduce farmers' income, and inflate consumer prices.Primary data were collected from farmers, traders, and cold chain operators using structured questionnaires and interviews across selected agro-producing regions. The findings reveal that although 72.7% of respondents are aware of cold chain systems, only a minority have access to refrigeration or cold storage due to high costs, limited infrastructure, and unreliable electricity.Key failure points identified include inadequate cold storage (72%), lack of pre-cooling facilities (61.3%), and high logistics costs (64%).Weekly economic losses due to cold chain failures ranged from 45,000 to 90,000, particularly affecting tomato, fruit, and fish supply chains. The study concludes that Nigeria's cold chain system is underdeveloped and contributes significantly to agricultural inefficiencies.Recommendations include targeted investment in solar-powered cold infrastructure, training for value chain actors, and formulation of national cold chain policies.Addressing these gaps is crucial for Emuesiri
