THE vibrational response characteristics of some fresh fruits and vegetables, and their corresponding resonant frequency bands, make resonance techniques applicable to selective sorting. A tuned-system concept was the basis for design of exciter-detector devices with which products interacted and were detected by a resonant frequency band. Tests were conducted on tomatoes, peaches, and potatoes and several devices were developed. The *'tuned-system devices and lab-oratory test results are described.
