The integrated intensities of all the vibrational fundamentals of COF2 COCl2, and COBr2 have been measured. From these, the values of the dipole-moment derivatives have been found. A particularly interesting feature of these results is that numerical values of ∂μ / ∂r for the carbonyl bond can be found without resolving the well-known sign ambiguity of the ∂p / ∂Q's. We find for COF2, ∂μ / ∂rCO = 4.70 ± 0.7 D / Å; for COCl2, ∂μ / ∂rCO = 4.75 ± 0.2 D / Å; and for COBr2, ∂μ / ∂rCO = 5.25 ± 0.2 D / Å.
