Triple-electrode technique analyzes electrochemical onset in molten slags, suggesting implications for high-temperature applications.
A triple-electrode technique was incorporated into the modified double hot thermocouple technique to analyze electrochemical reactions in molten slags. CaO–Al 2 O 3 –SiO 2 and CaO–SiO 2 slags showed nonlinear voltage–current behavior depending on slag composition and temperature. Half-cell potential measurements against a Pt pseudo-reference electrode enabled separate evaluation of anodic and cathodic responses and estimation of apparent reaction onset potentials. The technique provides an experimental basis for analyzing polarization behavior and reaction onset in molten slags under high-temperature conditions.
