The clinical notes of 100 bacteriologically positive cases of cholera in Calcutta during the epidemic have been studied and compared with those of the same number of cases in the non-epidemic period. It is observed that the diffusibility, the mortality and the frequency of severity ff symptoms, including exhibition of bileless stools and of suppression of urine, in epidemic cholera are relatively higher than those of non-epidemic cholera. The possible cause and the significance of this observation are discussed.
