Body image is not a new concept. Most of the research conducted on body image has been with neurologically or psychiatrically impaired patients or with college-age students. The study of the body image of older adults and how they respond to alterations in their body image has not been studied extensively. Therefore, this paper is to summarize study findings concerning body-image perception in older adults.
