According to the authors, the lupulone formula should be changed. The difference with the Wieland formula lies in the position of two double bonds. Experimental evidence to support the general lupulone structure and the new double bond positions was obtained by splitting up the lupulone molecule with alkali, and by isolating and identifying the different scission products obtained.
