Sixty-eight patients have been evaluated 2 years after stroke concerning their rehabilitation needs, level of disability, health-related quality of life, and satisfaction in various life situations. Assessments of the rehabilitation needs corresponded in general to the results from the different assessments. The neurological deficits and the dependence in personal ADL were rather low, but the majority of patients were dependent in instrumental activities and not fully satisfied with their lives as a whole. The dominant need for rehabilitation interventions was in social-related activities. The present study throws light on the need for systematic follow-up and interventions in stroke patients in the sub-acute and chronic phases.
