Reduced pressure sprinkler technology is being used in irrigated agriculture. A wide variety of sprinklers with unique operational characteristics are available for field use. The objective of this article is to report the results of field tests on 40 and 100 kPa spray and 170 and 345 kPa impact sprinklers which may be used to assist with the selection of appropriate sprinkler technology. Application rate and surface runoff were inversely related to sprinkler operational pressure and wetted diameter. Soil water contents tended to be less for the 40 and 100 kPa sprinklers than for the other two sprinklers. No corn grain yield differences were detected among the sprinklers.
