A new species of semi‐terrestrial monostiliferous hoplonemertean from California, Pantinonemertes californiensis sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The genus Pantinonemertes, transitional between marine and terrestrial habitats, provides evidence for one evolutionary line towards the colonization of land by nemerteans.
