The crustal activity in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is strong, active faults are developed, and there is a great risk of earthquake disaster. It is an important work to find out the distribution of active faults in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Remote sensing interpretation is the most effective means to identify active faults. Its core technology is to correctly grasp the typical remote sensing image characteristics of active faults. In this paper, combined with the compilation of 1 : 1 million national seismic structure map (Tibet area), the typical remote sensing images of Holocene active faults in Gartang Sheet (I44) of Tibet area are studied by using high resolution satellite remote sensing images. Then, the remote sensing image characteristics of the active faults in the area are summarized, and the spatial distribution of the Holocene active faults in the area, such as Kangxiwa fault, Altun fault, Longmu Co fault, Guozha Co fault, Ze Co fault, Karakorum fault, Mushirebuka fault, Nawu Co fault, Xiaxia Zangbu fault and Nier Co fault, is determined. Based on the previous research results, the latest activity era, activity nature and activity intensity of the Holocene faults in the area are discussed, as well as the characteristics of the overall tectonic movement in the area. The above faults reflect that the area is squeezed in a north-south direction and forms a “V ”-shaped conjugate system. The overall motion characteristics of the study area are the dynamic environment of the block 's eastward extrusion.
