The material describes the event on discussion and adoption of the National Consensus on metabolic surgery in type 2 diabetes mellitus.For the first time in the Republic of Kazakhstan, thanks to the interaction between endocrinologists and bariatric/metabolic surgeons, a joint National Consensus on metabolic surgery for type 2 diabetes was adopted. The document focuses on the approval of indications, contraindications, choice of surgical treatment method, as well as criteria for evaluating the results of metabolic surgery. The creation of the document will allow for a unified interpretation of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to this socially significant pathology in order to improve the treatment results for type 2 diabetes.
