Hydraulic actuation is a crucial component in the control systems of work processes for construction and road machinery. Due to the necessity of employing precise and complex manufacturing processes in the production and repair of hydraulic element parts and assemblies, hydraulic systems are among the most intricate in manufacturing. This characteristic demands the use of molded and properly machined components. Conversely, such an approach renders hydraulic parts very heavy and necessitates the utilization of substantial amounts of material. Furthermore, one of the primary factors affecting the reliability of hydraulic systems in construction equipment is the quantity and dependability of connections between components. Each connection represents a potential leakage point, thus designing systems to minimize their number is of significant importance. Additive manufacturing (AM) stands out as one of the most promising manufacturing technologies capable of meeting stringent requirements and serving as a viable alternative to the production of hydraulic parts. The aim of this article is to analyze the current state of research on the impact of the AM process on the operational properties of products, as well as to investigate changes after various types of post-processing, using hydraulic equipment components as a case study.
