Of these patients 14 had undergone previously external beam therapy that failed, and it is in this group that the major morbidity occurred. The possible mechanism of these complications is discussed, as well as the criteria for case selection to prevent these complications. © 1981 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byGHAFAR M, JOHNSON C, DE LA TAILLE A, BENSON M, BAGIELLA E, FATAL M, OLSSON C and KATZ A (2018) SALVAGE CRYOTHERAPY USING AN ARGON BASED SYSTEM FOR LOCALLY RECURRENT PROSTATE CANCER AFTER RADIATION THERAPY: THE COLUMBIA EXPERIENCEJournal of Urology, VOL. 166, NO. 4, (1333-1338), Online publication date: 1-Oct-2001.AMLING C, LERNER S, MARTIN S, SLEZAK J, BLUTE M and ZINCKE H (2018) DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID PLOIDY AND SERUM PROSTATE SPECIFIC ANTIGEN PREDICT OUTCOME FOLLOWING SALVAGE PROSTATECTOMY FOR RADIATION REFRACTORY PROSTATE CANCERJournal of Urology, VOL. 161, NO. 3, (857-863), Online publication date: 1-Mar-1999.Rogers E, Ohori M, Kassabian V, Wheeler T and Scardino P (2018) Salvage Radical Prostatectomy: Outcome Measured by Serum Prostate Specific Antigen LevelsJournal of Urology, VOL. 153, NO. 1, (104-110), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1995.Wallner K, Nori D, Morse M, Sogani P, Whitmore W and Fuks Z (2018) 125Iodine Reimplantation for Locally Progressive Prostatic CarcinomaJournal of Urology, VOL. 144, NO. 3, (704-706), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1990.Neerhut G, Wheeler T, Cantini M and Scardino P (2018) Salvage Radical Prostatectomy for Radiorecurrent Adenocarcinoma of the ProstateJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 3, (544-548), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1988.Walsh P (2018) Editorial CommentsJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 3, (548-549), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1988.
