Local allergic rhinitis (LAR) is a nasal mucosal inflammatory disease in the absence of atopy, where immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies are produced locally in the nasal mucosa. Nasal allergen challenge, basophil activation test, and measurement of IgE antibodies in nasal secretion confirm the diagnosis of LAR. The treatment for LAR is similar to that of allergic rhinitis, i.e., pharmacotherapy, allergen immunotherapy, and biologicals. This review discusses the current update on LAR.
