munity on January 1, 1973. This paper provides estimates of the effects of EEC enlargement, as it is envisioned in mid-1972, on international trade flows. The estimates are based on policy assumptions that appear plausible at the time of writing although some of them may be modified (or even invalidated) by events.1 As in all cases of ex-ante estimation, the figures should be regarded as rough orders of magnitude.
