The domain nucleation behaviour of YFeO3 single crystals in form of thin plates with the c-axis perpendicular to the plane was experimentally investigated in an external field up to 16 kOe. It was found that Kondorsky's model holds only when the samples are magnetized by a comparatively low external field. A model of residual reverse domains is proposed to interpret the experimental results. The temperature dependence of reverse domain growth behaviour was peculiar in each sample but a tendency common to all samples was found.
