Olefins and polymers can be directly grafted onto sulfhydrylated glass surfaces at room temperature using UV−visible light. The procedure is applicable to the production of, for example, perfluorinated and bioorganic surfaces as well as polymer coatings and brushes, starting from readily available materials.
