Does the Dor procedure improve left ventricular function and symptoms in a patient with post-infarction left ventricular aneurysm?
The Dor procedure can significantly improve left ventricular ejection fraction and clinical symptoms in patients with large post-infarction left ventricular aneurysms.
Hypothesis-generating for Dor procedure in post-MI aneurysm; randomized trials needed before broader adoption.
Dor procedure is a surgical treatment for post-infarction aneurysms, reserved for patients with large aneurysms at risk of rupture or those causing arrhythmias [1].Procedure involves excising of akinetic and dyskinetic segments and reshaping the left ventricular cavity with a patch.Consequently, ventricular geometry is restored and the ventricular ejection fraction increased [2][3][4].We report the case of a 68-year-old man transferred to our institution from another center with suspected iatrogenic left ventricular perforation and impending cardiac tamponade.

Radziukiewicz et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Post-infarction left ventricular aneurysm complicated by heart failure (n=1). Dor procedure was evaluated on Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). The Dor procedure improved left ventricular ejection fraction from 13% to 39% and reduced heart failure symptoms to NYHA class II at 6 months in a patient with a post-infarction aneurysm.
