Our project, as explained by the poster, aimed at promoting the crystallographic metadata file format imgCIF to enhance interoperability and thus the reuse of open data in this domain. The imgCIF format provides a comprehensive and standardised description of experiment parameters combined with links to the recorded diffraction images. Such raw diffraction data is typically stored in persistent archives on remote data repositories. The imgCIF format is human and machine-readable. It is well established and prerequisite to article publications in the IUCr raw data letters. Since imgCIF is difficult to produce manually, our solution is the imgCIF_Creator tool, written in Python and provided as open source code on GitHub. A web service hosted by the IUCr implements the tool to provide an easy-to-use interface for imgCIF generation.
