This paper deals with fast analytical approximation formulas describing the induced system penalty due to the dominant nonlinear effects in 10-Gb/s nonreturn to zero (NRZ) transmission systems. This paper concentrates on the multichannel effects of cross-phase modulation (XPM) and four-wave mixing (FWM).
