Electro−optic modulation of light in an optical single mode slab waveguide of a zinc−blende−type crystal is calculated theoretically. Both linear and quadratic dependence of phase velocity on modulation voltage is found for different crystal orientations. Agreement is found between the theoretical results and previously reported experimental results.
