The 2022 consensus report from the American Diabetes Association and European Association for the Study of Diabetes recommended using glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) among persons with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who have established or are at high risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), and using sodiumglucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) among those with T2D who have established ASCVD, chronic kidney disease, or heart failure or are at high risk for ASCVD (level A evidence) (1). Objective:To estimate, using nationally representative data, the number and percentage of persons with T2D who would meet the recommended criteria and were using these medications in the United States.

Tang et al. (2023) conducted a cross-sectional in Type 2 diabetes. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) was evaluated on Number and percentage of persons with T2D meeting recommended criteria and using GLP-1 RAs and SGLT2is. GLP-1 RA and SGLT2i eligibility and prevalent use among US adults with type 2 diabetes were evaluated, though no quantitative results are reported in the provided abstract.
