From intensity measurements on small angele x‐ray diagrams it is possible to derive the so‐called “scattering power” of the object in question. This quantity, introduced by Porod, taken per unit of volume is identical to the mean square of the fluctuations in electron density. Theoretical equations, necessary for the valuation of fiber diagrams, based on work of MacGillavry and Bruins, and of Vineyard, are adapted for application to measurements with a setup provided with a slit diaphragm. the principle of a convenient practical method to convert the experimental results into electron units, uning noble metal sols of easily computable scattering power, is disclosed.
