Hyperinsulinism (HI) in infancy presents a formidable challenge for the paediatrician as it is one of the most difficult problems to manage in contemporary paediatric endocrinology. This review article updates the management of HI derived from a Consensus Workshop held by the European Network for Research into Hyperinsulinism (ENRHI) in 1999.
