During the second flight of 8tratoscope II, the infrared reflection spectrum of jupiter was traced from 0.8 to 3.1 at a balloon altitude of 84000 feet. Deep absorption features caused largely by CH4 occur at 0.85, 0.99, 1.15, 1.37, and 1.7 . A deep, broad absorption feature centered at 2.25 appears to be primarily due to the collision-induced 1-0 band of H3 at 2.4 . A large absorption at 3 is attributed to NH3.
