This paper examines the underutilization of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in addressing systemic racial inequities within community and technical colleges (CTCs). We argue that while diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are prevalent, CRT offers a more robust framework for understanding and dismantling systemic racism. We analyze existing literature and highlight a scarcity of research applying CRT to CTCs, particularly concerning national support organizations lack of resources naming CRT in lieu of DEI, inequitable DEI labor distribution, faculty buy‐in, and curriculum development. We propose practical strategies for integrating CRT into institutional practices and national support organization efforts to promote more effective and lasting racial equity. Ultimately, we advocate for a more explicit and transparent use of CRT alongside DEI to achieve meaningful change.
