Chronological proposal outlines military campaign sequence in ancient kingdoms, suggesting historical implications.
In his penultimate full regnal year, Dāduša of Ešnunna and Samsī-Addu conducted a joint military campaign against the Upper Tigridian kingdom of Qabrâ. The Ešnunnaean view on these events is recorded in the Stele of Dāduša. This paper proposes a relative chronology for the events narrated in the first section of its military narrative, placing them and adjacent ones unmentioned in the Stele of Dāduša in their likely sequence within the 19 days preceding the start of the siege of Qabrâ. Since the Stele of Dāduša does not provide any chronological information, several letters of the Samsī-Addu dynasty and the Louvre Stele of Samsī-Addu are utilised to add historical context to those events.
