A simple method of controlling the wettability of colloidal crystal films from superhydrophobicity to superhydrophilicity is presented by adjusting the pH of the assembly system under ambient conditions. The different wettabilities are attributed to the presence or absence of hydrogen bonding between sodium dodecylbezenesulfonate and COOH of the latex surface.
