A fluorescence spectrum of the vibronic sideband of Cr3+ in LaAlO3 has been obtained by means of pulsed tunable dye laser excitation on resonance with the zero-phonon line. This method of excitation offers improved resolution, while attenuating competing spectral features arising from impurity ion pair interactions.
