The treatment of Mg(OH)2 nanowaste containing CrVI with NaHCO3+Na2CO3 as mineralizer converts this nanowaste into a nontoxic bulk material and a concentrated solution containing the heavy metal in a two-step process involving desorption of the CrVI and the rapid growth of nanocrystals for complete separation from CrVI (see picture).
