A Genetically Vulnerable Myocardium May Predispose to Myocarditis

“Campuzano et al prospectively collected 3 cases of myocarditis-related sudden cardiac death, who were genetically screened by molecular autopsy for the most common SCD-related genes. In that occasion, they identified in all the 3 cases a pathogenic variant in desmosomal genes reinforcing the rationale for further genetic investigation of larger cohort with myocarditis. Of note, none of the index cases was suspected of having ACM at autopsy.”
