In this article we present a new self-rating questionnaire. “Frågor om familjemedlemmar” (FOF) in Swedish for measuring expressed emotion. The aim of this instrument is to investigate a dyadic relation. The different scales are perceived criticism. perceived emotional involvement, critical comments, and emotional overinvolvement. We have found that the questionnaire has acceptable reliability and validity. The different subscales show significant differences between clinical and non-clinical groups. The predictive validity has been studied both in a group of adolescents with psychotic disorders and in a child guidance clinic group and has shown positive results. The preliminary results show that this questionnaire can be an alternative if you are interested in measuring relations in dyads and especially if you are interested in the concept of expressed emotion.
